ECMWF’s AI model, AIFS, is now available via the stormglass API
We are very pleased to announce the addition of weather data from AIFS to the stormglass API. AIFS is a global AI model in 0.25° resolution that includes wind, solar, soil- and air temperature. To see the full list of included parameters please visit the documentation.
In recent comparisons, AIFS has continuously come out as the top performer and we couldn’t be happier to make AIFS forecasts available through the stormglass API. The new data is available for new and existing stormglass.io users without any additional cost.

AIFS stands for Artificial Intelligence Forecasting System (AIFS) and is based on the combination of a previous short-term forecast with around 60 million quality-controlled observations from satellites as well as many other streams, including from planes, boats, sea buoys and many other Earth-based measurement stations.
ECMWF plans to expand the AIFS dataset, and we will continue to add data to the stormglass API as it the AIFS dataset grows.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute
New data from Met NO has been added to the stormglass API. The geographical coverage has also been enlarged to cover everything north of 63°N in 0.1° spatial resolution. To get the full list of parameters from Met NO and all details – please visit the documentation.

More data from ECMWF will follow, including historical re-analysed data (ERA5).
