Astronomy Forecast API

We are releasing a set of complementary forecast services in the Storm Glass API — Astronomy and Lakes forecasts!

Looking at the applications within shipping, navigation, fishing, surfing and others where the Storm Glass API is being used, we realised there is weather data needed for these applications that goes somewhat outside of marine weather data. To make it as easy as possible to get all the weather data you need from one place we decided to expand the Storm Glass API with these complementary forecasts.

Astronomy Forecast

The Astronomy Forecast includes Sunrise, Sunset, Moonrise, Moonset, Moon Phase, Closest Moon Phase and Moon Fraction. First and Last Light for outdoor activities and navigation is also included (times according to both nautical, civil as well as astronomical definitions are available).

Full documentation for the Astronomy section is available here: https://docs.stormglass.io/

Lakes Forecast

Water related information such as Wave Height, Swell Height and Currents is available for some of the largest lakes in the world including The Caspian Sea, The Great Lakes, Hudson Bay, Lake Winnipeg and The Great Slave Lake.

Data related to Wind, Surface Temperature, Air Pressure and more is available for all lakes worldwide.
